Mindfully Choosing Lovingkindness

Hello, sun in my face.

Hello, you who made the morning and spread it over the fields.

Watch, now, how I start my day in happiness, in kindness.

–Mary Oliver

This week, American poet Mary Oliver gives us a beautiful way to begin our day – by mindfully choosing to experience happiness (even if it just that the sun has risen again) and to mindfully choose kindness. In choosing kindness, I believe that a bit or a heaping of happiness comes back to us.

So today, and every day, we send into the world, to the people closest to us and to those we will never meet, wishes of lovingkindness. Wishes of happiness, health, and ease, of safety and being free from suffering. For what a wonderful world it would be if we all had our basic needs met and could live with open and authentic hearts.

To remember this beautiful thought from Mary Oliver, download these images that include her quote to keep on your phone or computer or to print out. May it bring you a bit of happiness.

And come back to this week's episodes (Monday and Friday) for a guided lovingkindess meditation. May it bring love, beauty, happiness, and kindness to you.
