Seeing the Details (Season 5, Ep. 4)

"If you will stay close to nature, to its simplicity, to the small things hardly noticeable, those things become great and immeasurable.

—Rainer Maria Rilke

Season 5 of The Focused Intention Podcast has us focusing in on nature and this week, we went micro to see the details we may have missed if we never slowed down to take a mindful look!

Our Friday Focus action was to study those natural details this week—the tinier, the better! And I challenged you to give your memory a little test to see if those details stuck with you.

One of the details that caught my eye this week were the buds on a dahlia plant that I have on my outdoor table. The flowers are a beautiful bright yellow but these buds fascinated me. From a distant, they looked like bright green peas sitting on the end of a stem. When I zoomed in on the details, I could see a slight color change peeking through where the petals were beginning to form. That future bright yellow was working its way through the green, I thought.

So, last night, I took out my iPad, where I like to doodle and try drawing and I made my attempt at remembering. I'm not going to dissect the beauty of my artwork; I will just say that I looked closely enough that this image will stay with me for a long time. This small, gorgeous piece of nature will stick with me now that I took the time to see it—and what a beautiful visual memory it will be to recall.

Take the time to see the details in the next few days! Please share what you noticed below — with or without artwork. Let's fill this page with bits of nature that are great and immeasurable!
